Teaching profession at vocational colleges (LABG) Subject social pedagogy
In addition to a subject-specific and methodological introduction to social pedagogy, the degree program in Social Pedagogy for Teachers at Vocational Colleges provides students with an insight into the historical and systematic foundations of social pedagogy. In addition, students are introduced to methods and competencies in the fields of social pedagogy. Thematic focal points are the basics of early childhood education and the basics of youth welfare. Theories and research approaches as well as concepts of social pedagogy are also discussed. Within the framework of subject didactic courses, the teaching of methodical as well as didactic principles of teaching, with regard to social pedagogical topics, is also the content of this course of study.
Qualification goal The study of social pedagogy qualifies graduates for the teaching profession at vocational colleges. The Bachelor's degree is an academic qualification with which students can leave the university and take up a professional activity in the field of social work. The possible subsequent master's program explicitly prepares students for teaching at vocational colleges and technical schools. Successful completion of the program qualifies students for the 18-month teacher training program (Referendariat) and for subsequent employment as a teacher in the school service. Possible future fields of activity include the entire area of the public vocational school system (vocational school, vocational college, higher vocational college, technical college, vocational high school and technical college).

Practical activities
The 52-week specialized internship, also called specialized practical activity, is aimed at all students of the teaching profession for the vocational college and is mandatory. Its aim is to give students an insight into the fields of work of the pupils they will later teach and thus to link theoretical knowledge acquired during their studies with practical experience. Regardless of the examination regulations (LPO, Bachelor's/Master's model test, Bachelor's/Master's LABG 2009), practical training must generally be completed if there is no relevant vocational training. There is also the possibility of completing specialized practical activities within the framework of internships abroad. The recognition of the total number of completed internships is finally carried out by the State Examination Office.
