In the practice of social work, professionals have to deal with complex situations in which sometimes different expectations and concepts of action collide, which can lead to misunderstandings and attributions. Social pedagogical case understanding makes a decisive contribution to exploring the complexity of the situation with those involved, mobilizing possible resources and developing solution perspectives. In this process, it should be clarified together with the participants what the "case" is: Who has what problems - and with whom?

This basic course leads unerringly to the necessary basic knowledge: What does social pedagogical case understanding mean? How does it differ from "non-professional understanding procedures" and those of other professions? What methods are there for it? In this book, we will give you some useful suggestions on how to acquire the necessary approaches to social pedagogical case understanding and how to practice them with the help of case studies.
