Two years ago, the conference "Learning from Luegde..." was supposed to focus on the political, professional and social challenges after the incidents of sexualized violence against children and adolescents in Luegde. Due to the Corona pandemic, it could not take place. Since then, much has happened - new shocking incidents have come to light and much has been set in motion to improve child protection in the country.

The published information on the multiple sexual abuse and maltreatment of children had shown that the rights to protection and integrity of a large number of children had been violated over a long period of time, and that the behavior of the responsible and involved organizations was characterized in part by blatantly wrong decisions and inappropriate procedures. In commissions and working groups, the grievances were and are being perceived and dealt with with the aim of taking appropriate measures for child protection. But it is clear that much remains to be done to implement the desired improvements on the ground - the pandemic has tended to exacerbate the problems.

The event will once again take up the concern to bring politics, science and practice together in an interdisciplinary, multi-perspective and cross-state discourse. For all those who are committed to the well-being of young people, it is now a matter of pooling the findings and formulating mandates for high-quality and comprehensive child protection.
