Promoting innovative approaches in digital university teaching is the goal of the funding program "Fellowships for Innovations in Digital University Teaching - digiFellows", which the TU Dortmund University has announced university-wide with the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of NRW and in cooperation with the Digital University NRW.

The 2023 grant goes to Dr. Vanessa Henke (Institute of General Didactics and School Pedagogy) and Dr. Stephanie Spanu (Institute of Social Pedagogy, Adult Education and Early Childhood Education) from the Faculty of Education, Psychology and Educational Research in cooperation with Dr. Lena Tacke from the Faculty of Human Sciences and Theology (Institute of Catholic Theology) for their project "BNERoom: Digital Escape Room to strengthen ESD in teacher education".

The cross-faculty project aims to bring student teachers into exchange with each other on a selected United Nations Sustainable Development Goal. The digital Escape Room to be developed initially deals with the tenth of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): "Reduce inequalities". By working on and achieving topic-specific tasks, such as on inclusion, poverty and/or performance assessment, students solve various puzzles related to the aforementioned SDG in an interdisciplinary way in joint negotiation processes.

Digital Fellowship

The project is funded with 50,000 euros for one year as part of the "digiFellows" program. The program aims to promote the development and testing of digitally supported teaching and examination formats with the consistent use of digital technologies at TU Dortmund University.
